In a press conference ahead of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) match against Morocco, Kenya’s head coach, Benni McCarthy, emphasized that his team would not be an easy opponent. However, the South African star expressed concern about his players physical condition due to the short recovery time compared to their opponents.
McCarthy praised the Moroccan squad, describing them as a “strong and well-organized team” and one of the best in the league. He also highlighted the unpredictability of the Moroccan team, stating, “It will be a tough match against one of the best teams not only in our group, but in the league, Morocco is unpredictable and that is why we must produce quality and be more organized in all areas of the game.”
McCarthy also raised concerns about the physical state of his team, noting the short recovery time. “Morocco has had a week to prepare for this match, as we played our last match only two days ago,” he explained. Despite the challenge, he remains hopeful. “I hope the motivation and physical condition will be there to play well in the match against Morocco.”
With two CHAN titles already under their belt, the Atlas Lions are aiming for an early qualification for the second round. The match is scheduled for Sunday at 1 p.m. Morocco time.
