Masterful Free Kick by Tannane but another misstep from his team

Despite a stellar individual performance, Moroccan international Oussama Tannane could not prevent his team Umm Salal from losing 2-1 to Al Rayyan during the tenth round of the Qatar Stars League.

The match, held at Al Khor Stadium, was largely dominated by Al Rayyan, who imposed their rhythm and possession from the outset. Quickly falling behind 1-0 due to an own goal by Abdulrahman Fayez in the 15th minute, the players of Umm Salal were forced to retreat and rely on counterattacks and set pieces in an attempt to turn the tide, illustrating the technical and tactical superiority of their opponents.

It was in this challenging context that team captain Oussama Tannane showcased his class. From a long free kick on the right flank, Oussama delivered a true masterpiece. With a powerful strike and surgical precision, his ball struck the post before nestling in the top corner of Al Rayyan’s goal, allowing Umm Salal to equalize (1-1) in the 33rd minute. This spectacular goal, born from a brilliant individual inspiration, reignited hope within Umm Salal, proving the decisive impact Tannane can have on the game.

However, this equalizer was merely a brief respite. In line with the match’s dynamics, Al Rayyan quickly resumed their forward march, reestablishing their dominance in the second half and scoring the winning goal in the 55th minute. Subsequent efforts by Umm Salal to snatch a point were insufficient to close the gap.

Tannane’s magnificent goal thus could not prevent his team from suffering a fifth consecutive defeat in the league, leaving Umm Salal stagnant at the bottom of the table. Despite Tannane’s 6 goals and 5 assists in the Qatar league this season, his club remains in eleventh place with just 6 points on the board.
