Paris, February 24, 2026 – When asked at a press conference about the legal situation of Achraf Hakimi, who has been referred to trial as part of the proceedings opened in 2023, Luis Enrique opted for a brief and strictly institutional response. The Paris Saint-Germain coach refrained from any substantive comment and simply stated, in Spanish: “It’s in the hands of justice.”
A direct question, a locked response
Luis Enrique’s statement comes on the eve of a European deadline, during the pre-match press conference (return leg against Monaco). Journalists notably questioned him about the potential sporting impact of this matter on the locker room, as well as Hakimi’s role in the group (vice-captaincy). The Spanish coach maintained the same line: to not publicly fuel the subject and to refer the entire matter to the competent authorities.
PSG maintains minimal communication
At this time, the club has not elaborated further on its position, allowing the procedure to take its course. For his part, Hakimi has reaffirmed his contestation of the accusations and is awaiting the trial “calmly,” in a message relayed by several international media outlets.
A choice consistent with his media management
This stance by Luis Enrique aligns with an approach already observed at PSG: to protect the group and remain focused on the field, limiting statements on off-field issues. In this regard, the coach had recently spoken about Hakimi only from a sporting and medical perspective, discussing the management of his return and recovery when he was back in training – without stepping outside the football context.
