Ligue 1: Sofiane Diop makes the difference, Igamane and Sahraoui powerless against Nice

OGC Nice continues its excellent run in Ligue 1. The Aiglons secured their third consecutive victory in the league with a 2-0 win against LOSC on Sunday evening at the Allianz Riviera. The match was marked by a new goal from Sofiane Diop, while the two Moroccan internationals Hamza Igamane and Osame Sahraoui, who started for Lille, were unable to turn the tide.

The start of the match was balanced, with Lille trying to impose their pressing and exploit set pieces. Sofiane Diop, very active between the lines, quickly took control of Nice’s offensive play. Inspired and clear-headed, he perfectly orchestrated the transitions before opening the scoring in the 29th minute with a penalty, executed with a superb Panenka after a foul by goalkeeper Arnaud Bodart on Kevin Carlos. A gesture full of mastery that confirms the great confidence of the Moroccan attacking midfielder, who scored for the fifth consecutive time in Ligue 1.

Despite their strong will, Hamza Igamane and Osame Sahraoui struggled to pose a threat against a well-organized Nice defense. Igamane created a few opportunities, notably from a loose ball by Yehvann Diouf, while Sahraoui tried to bring speed down his wing but failed to destabilize the opposing block.

In the second half, Nice displayed great tactical discipline, patiently waiting to strike on the counter. In the final minutes, Isak Jansson capitalized on a mistake by the Lille goalkeeper to score the second goal (2-0) and seal the victory for the Aiglons.

While Sofiane Diop confirms his status as a key player for Nice week after week, Hamza Igamane and Osame Sahraoui continue to gain experience and maturity within a Lille team still seeking consistency.

Given his exceptional form and growing influence on Nice’s play, a call-up for Sofiane Diop by Hoalid Regragui during the upcoming international window in November would seem like a logical conclusion, as his current performance advocates for a return to the national team.
