The Moroccan national futsal team once again raised the colors of the Kingdom high during the Islamic Solidarity Games, held in Riyadh from November 3 to 11, 2025. Under the leadership of Hicham Dguig, the team had a remarkable journey, successively dominating Tajikistan, Afghanistan, and Saudi Arabia before succumbing in the final to Iran (5-0).
Undeafeated until the final match, the Atlas Lions impressed with their collective play, intensity, and unyielding mentality. With key players like Soufiane El Mesrar, Bilal El Bakkali, and Soufiane Bourite, Morocco demonstrated the strength of its project and confirmed its status as a reference point in African and global futsal.
Despite the defeat in the final, this silver medal symbolizes the continuity of a foundational work that has been underway for several years. As the reigning African champions and sixth in the world rankings, Dguig’s Lions continue their ascent with a clear objective: to aim for gold in the upcoming continental and global competitions.
