Queens Park Rangers are delighted to announce that Ilias Chair has extended his contract with the club, signing a new long-term deal. The 27-year-old, who joined eight years ago after a trial, expressed his pride in continuing his journey with the Rangers: “I am very grateful for this opportunity and really happy to be here. This is the only club I know and I’m thrilled to be here,” he said. Chair also reflected on his beginnings, marked by tough times: “When I arrived, I was 19 years old and didn’t know if I would make it. When they released me in Belgium, I didn’t think I would become a professional footballer. QPR helped me, and I want to repay them for their support.”

The player also expressed his attachment to London and to QPR, which he now considers home: “This is my home now. I know I’m from Belgium and I miss Antwerp, but I’m now a Londoner, a West Londoner to be exact!” Chair recently played his 250th match for QPR, an accomplishment that means a lot to him. “It’s an honor to be among the club’s legends in terms of appearances,” he added. He also emphasized that he has big ambitions for the future: “Appearances count a lot, but I know there’s a bigger goal to achieve.” Excited about the club’s future, Chair highlighted that QPR is heading in the right direction: “The club is going in the right direction, a positive direction. We signed some amazing players this summer, and everything is taken seriously here.”

QPR’s CEO, Christian Nourry, praised Chair’s decision to extend his contract, underlining his importance to the club: “Ilias Chair has bigger ambitions for QPR and for himself than the challenges faced over the past few years. His decision to extend his commitment is a strong statement from a key figure who wants to contribute to our culture of continuous improvement.”
