On the eve of the match against Congo-Brazzaville, national coach Hoalid Regragui has reaffirmed the Atlas Lions’ objective of staying top of Group E of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and moving closer to qualification.
“We need to win this match and finish top of our group to guarantee our place at the World Cup,” Regragui told a press conference in Agadir.
He stressed the importance of an effective attack: “We need to step up our attacking game to get a good result.
Regragui also stressed the need to find the right balance within the team, while using the best performing players. He mentioned Eliesse Ben Seghir as a major asset to the attack and Oussama El Azzouzi as a future centrepiece of the midfield, especially with Sofiane Amrabat bringing crucial athleticism.
“We have a group determined to win and progress together,” he added, stressing the importance of concentration against Congo-Brazzaville if we are to secure all three points.
The Atlas Lions had earlier beaten Zambia 2-1 in Agadir to top Group E on 6 points, followed by Zambia, Niger and Tanzania on 3 points each.
