Harry Kane defends Luis Díaz after his red card against PSG

The controversy continues to grow following the clash between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich (1-2) in the Champions League. Luis Díaz was sent off just before halftime for a dangerous tackle on Achraf Hakimi, leaving the pitch furious and dejected. His teammate Harry Kane came to his defense after the match.

The English striker believed that the Colombian’s action was not intentional:

“It’s very tough and unfortunate, but Lucho was just trying to clear the ball. Hakimi put his foot in between, and he got caught. That’s football. It’s sad when a player gets injured like that, but these things happen.”

Kane recalled that a similar incident occurred during the last Club World Cup:

“The same thing happened to Musiala, and there was no card. It’s an unfortunate action, but you can’t say it was intentional.”

Despite being a man down, Bayern managed to hold on and secure victory at the Parc des Princes.

“The red card changed everything, but we stayed focused and found a way to win. That shows the strength of this group,” concluded the captain of the Three Lions, praising his team’s solidarity.
