Achraf Hakimi, the dynamic Moroccan full-back, remains grounded despite a stellar season that has many touting him for individual accolades, including the prestigious Ballon D’Or of France Football, The Best of FIFA, and of course the CAF African Player of the Year award.
Hakimi extended his support to Jamal Musiala and he also conveyed his immense satisfaction with the team’s overall performance in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025, highlighting their strong character in the challenging quarterfinal game against Bayern Munich and their growing eagerness to win the competition.
“First of all I want to to send my support to Musiala. It was a difficult part of of the game today for him and we know that injuries are part of the game but I want to send a message to him, that we support him and we want to see him back soon in the pitch because he’s a great player.”
“We are really happy about our performance today, individually and quality of the team. It was not easy but we saw our character, and that we are ready to win this competition.”
Answering a question from the Nigerian journalist Calister Enejle about the CAF award deserved arguably by the Moroccan international, Hakimi humbly deferred, stating his primary focus is always on delivering his best for the team. He expressed genuine happiness and gratitude that journalists and fans recognize his strong performance, acknowledging it motivates him to maintain his high level of play and continue entertaining those who watch him on the pitch.
“No, I just focus on trying to give my best for the team. After, it’s you journalists who are going to decide who’s the best in Africa But I’m really happy that you guys think of me and for considering that I’m doing a good season. I’m really happy about that, and I’m going to try to continue like that so you guys have fun watching me play”
Achraf Hakimi produced an incredible individual effort in the quarterfinal, dribbling past five Bayern Munich players -Thomas Müller, Harry Kane, Dayot Upamecano, Konrad Laimer, and Serge Gnabry- before providing a brilliant assist to Ousmane Dembélé, who then scored. This sensational play is the best action in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 so far, highlighting Hakimi’s skills and the impact of the goal, especially as PSG was playing with nine men at the time.
