Hakimi scores and makes history with PSG

Paris Saint-Germain has finally shattered the glass ceiling. On Saturday, May 31, 2025, the club from the French capital claimed its first-ever UEFA Champions League title, crushing Inter Milan 5-0 in a one-sided UCL final in Istanbul. While Désiré Doué stood out with two goals and an assist, it was Achraf Hakimi who embodied the team’s success, symbolizing the ambition and collective strength of this 2025 PSG side.

Paris struck early in the match, taking control from the 13th minute. Vitinha found Doué in the box, who turned masterfully and laid the ball off to Hakimi making a perfectly timed run. The Moroccan fullback calmly slotted the ball past Sommer with a composed finish. 1-0 for Paris, and the tone was set for a historic night. Hakimi’s goal set the pace and opened the door for PSG’s domination and the pursuit of their first title ever in Champions League. Yet, he reacted modestly, demonstrating respect for his former team, Inter.

Throughout the match, Hakimi was a constant threat, making runs, linking up in attacks, and combining brilliantly with his teammates down the flank. In the 60th minute, he was again at the heart of the action: Doué, in a tight space, produced a superb piece of skill to escape the press and sent Hakimi racing forward. The Moroccan’s shot narrowly missed the post, further underlining PSG’s grip on the game.

That goal in the final capped off an outstanding European season for Hakimi. According to Opta, the Moroccan has been involved in 9 goals in the Champions League this season (4 goals and 5 assists), equaling Ian Harte’s record from the 2000/01 campaign for the most goal involvements by a defender in a single edition. It’s a testament to Hakimi’s importance in Paris’ system, where he shone both for his pace and precision in the final third.

Powered by a well-oiled collective and standout players like Hakimi and Doué, PSG overwhelmed Inter Milan, scoring five goals in a match that will go down in the history books. May 31, 2025, will forever be remembered as the day Paris finally lifted the Champions League trophy.

Hakimi, with his decisive offensive contribution and influence on the game, will remain one of the main architects of this triumph.

PSG dreamed of this moment, and Hakimi made it happen.
