Girona: Míchel praises Ounahi, ‘a differential Player’

Azzedine Ounahi has made significant strides in the eyes of his coach. After the match, Míchel publicly emphasized the impact of the Moroccan midfielder, whom he describes as a ‘differential’ player capable of turning a game around with his quality on the ball. In his assessment, Ounahi brings what few profiles offer: creativity, rhythm, and the ability to create imbalances in critical areas of play.

The Girona coach was very clear: Ounahi has ‘a lot of talent’ with the ball at his feet and is ‘very good.’ This strong recognition comes especially in a context where the coach insists on collective balance and demands in both phases of play. This statement confirms that the Moroccan international is seen as a unique asset, a player capable of adding another dimension to the team’s play through acceleration, dribbling, or taking initiative between the lines.

However, Míchel will have to manage in the coming days without his midfielder, who has been selected by Hoalid Regragui for the Africa Cup of Nations (from December 21 to January 18 in Morocco). His absence could extend to ‘three, four, or five matches,’ depending on the progress of the Atlas Lions. Despite this uncertainty, the main message remains clear: Ounahi is a player who matters, and the staff expects him to continue exerting his influence when on the field. At a time when the team is seeking stability and reference points, this type of profile can become a decisive lever for making progress.
