Already in great form in the Süper Lig, Youssef En-Nesyri once again made an impact on the European stage. The Moroccan striker stood out particularly during Fenerbahçe’s trip to Denmark to face Midtjylland, in the 8th and final matchday of the Europa League group stage.
Very active in attack, he disrupted the opposing defense and confirmed his key role within the Turkish club. In the 39th minute, well set up by Edin Džeko, he scored a magnificent chip to beat goalkeeper Lössl and equalize after Midtjylland took the lead in the 27th minute. Edin Džeko gave the Turks the advantage right after the break in the 47th minute, but Andreasen from Midtjylland equalized in the 89th minute.
With such consistency, En-Nesyri is proving to be an indispensable asset for Fenerbahçe for the rest of the season.
Fenerbahçe finished the group stage in 24th place, the last position that qualifies for the playoffs. The Portuguese club Braga, despite having the same number of points, was eliminated due to a less favorable goal difference.
