Olympiakos kicked off their Super League season with a 2-0 victory over Asteras Tripolis at a behind-closed-doors Karaiskakis Stadium, a sanction carried over from last season’s cup final. A hard-fought win was finally sealed in the dying minutes thanks to Yusuf Yazici and Ayoub El Kaabi.
After a tightly contested match, Yazici broke the deadlock in the 90th minute with a brilliant strike. Moments later (90+7), El Kaabi capitalized on a pass from Bruno to score the second goal and open his account for the season.
The Moroccan striker, who was already close to scoring earlier (a goal ruled out by VAR in the 51st minute), thus confirms his central role in Olympiakos’ attack. A perfect start for the Greek champions.
