AS Roma may have found their new midfielder. According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the club from the Italian capital has reached a verbal agreement with RC Lens for the transfer of Neil El Aynaoui. The Moroccan player is now the frontrunner to join the Giallorossi, barring any last-minute developments.
While Roma was exploring several options to strengthen their midfield, they had shown interest in Brazilian AnÃbal Moreno RÃos from Palmeiras. However, the rising financial demands from the Brazilian club eventually frustrated the Roman management. This situation hastened the renewed focus on El Aynaoui, who had already been targeted for several weeks.
The contract signing and exchange of official documents are expected to take place on Friday, July 18. The transfer fee is reportedly around €25 million, with additional bonuses on top.
