Digard bets on Boufal to drive Le Havre’s project

Sofiane Boufal, who arrived this winter to enhance the offensive dynamics of Le Havre AC, has already established himself as a central figure in Didier Digard’s plans. The Le Havre coach sees in the Moroccan international a rare profile within his squad: a player capable of securing key moments, relieving the team under pressure, and above all, creating imbalance in the final third.

“He is a very important signing for us,” insists Digard, who is now looking for an additional step forward. Without questioning Boufal’s technical impact, the coach wants to see him make a greater mark on the match sheet. The idea is clear: to transform his influence in the game into decisive actions, and to encourage him to fully embrace his status, with more confidence and conviction in his choices.

In his discourse, Boufal is not seen as a “one-off” asset linked to a prestigious encounter. Digard presents him instead as a structural piece for the remainder of the season: “We are counting heavily on him, not just against PSG. We have very important matches to play.” This message underscores Le Havre’s intention to rely on their creative number to manage key sequences, unlock tight matches, and stay on course with the club’s objectives.

Finally, Digard highlights an often underestimated dimension: the human relationship. He explains that he has detailed the game project to Boufal, how he will be utilized, and how things operate on a daily basis, reminding that these trajectories are also “human adventures.” This is a way to empower the Atlas Lion and provide him with a clear framework to express his talent… with the expectation of being more incisive when the match is on the line.
