Real Betis secured a historic qualification for the Conference League final after a draw snatched in extra time against Fiorentina (2-2 a.e.t.) on Thursday night. Coming on in the 58th minute, Abde Ezzalzouli once again confirmed his status as a super-sub. The Moroccan appeared at the right moment, in extra time, to score the decisive goal (97th minute), well assisted by Antony, who had already scored in the first half. This goal allowed Betis to secure their ticket to the first European final in their history, after a 2-1 win in the first leg in Florence. Ezzalzouli’s inspiration, combined with Antony’s efficiency, proved decisive in overcoming a determined but unrewarded Fiorentina side.
On the other side, Atlas Lion Amir Richardson came on at the start of the second half (46th minute), aiming to strengthen the midfield and bring more verticality to Fiorentina’s play. Despite his efforts, Fiorentina, who thought they had done the hard part thanks to a first-half brace from Robin Gosens, eventually cracked under the Andalusian pressure. The Italians, already beaten finalists in 2023 and 2024, once again saw their European dreams slip away. Betis will face Chelsea on May 28 in Wroclaw, hoping to inscribe their name in the Conference League’s history.
