Chemsdine Talbi: “Morocco… it’s hard to explain.”

The young midfielder from Club Brugge, Chemsdine Talbi, has yet to decide on his international future. In an interview with RTL Sport, the 19-year-old player confirmed that he is in contact with both the Belgian and Moroccan federations but prefers to take his time before making a decision.

Born in Belgium, Talbi acknowledges the importance of the country where he grew up and developed as a player. However, his ties to Morocco remain strong:

“Of course, Morocco is also an important country for me, just like Belgium. I spent all my vacations in Morocco. I am closer to my Moroccan family.”

This attachment does not necessarily mean a definitive decision. The Belgian U19 international wants to trust his feelings first and discuss the matter with his relatives, especially his father:

“I just want to see where I feel the best. I will discuss it with my family, especially with my father. We will make the right choice.”

While many dual-national talents choose their national team early in their careers, Talbi prefers to focus on his club before deciding:

“The most important thing is to focus here in Bruges, secure my place, and the national team will come later.”

It is a difficult choice for the young player, torn between his Moroccan roots and his Belgian background:

“Belgium—I was born here, I have spent my whole life here. I am very grateful to this country, but Morocco remains part of my origins, my family… It’s hard to explain.”

For now, the suspense remains. Time and the progression of his career could be decisive in his final decision.
