Less than two weeks before the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, Hoalid Regragui presented, on Thursday, December 11, the list of 28 players selected to represent Morocco in an edition hosted in the Kingdom and already touted as one of the most prestigious in history. The coach remains loyal to his usual core, based on a group he has been working with for several years.
The national staff relies on a solid backbone composed of Yassine Bounou, Nayef Aguerd, Achraf Hakimi, and Sofyan Amrabat, while integrating several younger but high-performing players capable of bringing dynamism and depth to the team. It is worth noting that Hamza Igamane, who is suffering from a groin injury, is among the reserves and, unless there is a positive development, is not expected to participate in the AFCON.
The list of 28 summoned players:
Goalkeepers: Yassine Bounou, Mehdi El Harrar, Munir Mohamed
Defenders: Nayef Aguerd, Romain Saïss, Anas Salaheddine, Noussair Mazraoui, Adam Masina, Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal, Achraf Hakimi, Mohamed Chibi, Jawad El Yamiq
Midfielders: Azzedine Ounahi, Bilal El Khannouss, Neil El Aynaoui, Sofyan Amrabat, Oussama Targhalline, Chemsdine Talbi, Ismael Saibari

A Demanding Group A for the Atlas Lions
Morocco will compete in Group A alongside Comoros, Mali, and Zambia. A challenging group where each match must be approached with seriousness, especially since the Atlas Lions will have the home advantage and are ambitious to go all the way in the competition. The first match against Comoros, held at the Moulay Abdellah Complex, will be a decisive moment. A successful start would allow Hoalid Regragui’s men to ideally launch their campaign.
Morocco’s group stage schedule:
– December 21, 2025: Morocco – Comoros (8 PM, Rabat)
– December 26, 2025: Morocco – Mali (9 PM, Rabat)
– December 29, 2025: Zambia – Morocco (8 PM, Rabat)
