Stuttgart finds its smile in Europe. After two consecutive defeats, the German club secured a 2-0 victory against Feyenoord, thanks to two goals scored in the final minutes by Bilal El Khannouss and Deniz Undav.
In a superb atmosphere at the Neckarstadion, both teams delivered a balanced and rather closed first half. Feyenoord appeared slightly more dangerous. Just before halftime, the Dutch side had another opportunity from a free kick, but failed to trouble the German goalkeeper.
Upon returning from the break, Stuttgart gradually took control of the game. In the 58th minute, Bilal El Khannouss made his presence known with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, well saved by Timon Wellenreuther. Sebastian Hoeneß’s men then multiplied their attacks, encouraged by an electrifying Cannstatter Kurve.
The turning point finally came in the 84th minute. In a perfectly constructed play, Lorenz Assignon delivered a pinpoint cross from the right side, headed in by El Khannouss. The ball hit the crossbar before crossing the line, unleashing the entire stadium. The Moroccan attacking midfielder thus scores his second goal in the Europa League this season.
In stoppage time, Chris Führich set up Deniz Undav for the 2-0, sealing the Germans’ success. With this victory, Stuttgart regains its momentum and brightens its prospects ahead of their next Bundesliga match against Augsburg.
