Benfica–Real: useful minutes for Brahim Díaz (0-1)

Real Madrid secured a 1-0 victory against Benfica on Tuesday night at the Estádio da Luz, during the first leg of the Champions League playoff. The Madrid team made the difference in the second half thanks to Vinícius Júnior, who scored the only goal of the match, before managing their lead until the final whistle.

In this generally tight match, Brahim Díaz had limited playing time. The Moroccan international came on late in the game (86th minute) with a clear objective: to help Real maintain possession, provide a technical solution for short passes, and support transitions when Benfica pushed for an equalizer.

During these final minutes, Brahim primarily sought simplicity: making himself available between the lines, ensuring the first passes, and participating in collective defensive work without exposing himself unnecessarily. His introduction did not change the course of the match, but it addressed a specific need at that moment: to secure the end of the game and maintain a minimum level of control during crucial sequences.

With this 1-0 success, Real leaves Lisbon with an advantage ahead of the return match. For Brahim Díaz, this type of appearance remains an indicator: he is among the options utilized when the team needs to lock down a tight match, even if the impact is measured more by the balance of the collective than by statistics.
