Olympiakos made a strong statement on the 8th and final matchday of the Europa League group stage. Facing Qarabağ, the Greek club won with authority (3-0), securing their ticket to the knockout rounds. The match was highlighted by the performance of Ayoub El Kaabi, who scored a brace (56th, 60th), further confirming his status as the team’s offensive leader.
Thanks to his two goals, the Moroccan international scored his 7th goal in the competition, becoming the top scorer in Olympiakos history in the Europa League, surpassing Bent Christensen.
“Why not win the Europa League?”
After the match, the Atlas Lion shared his thoughts on the qualification and expressed his ambitions for the rest of the tournament:
“I’m very happy today. I scored two goals and helped the team win the match. I want to thank our supporters, who are present at every game to cheer us on. I hope we continue this momentum and, why not, win the Europa League.”
Asked about the possibility of going all the way in the competition, the Moroccan forward responded with optimism:
“In football, anything is possible. We have a great team, a good coach, a competent staff, and incredible supporters. Why not? Last year, we won the Conference League, so why not aim for the Europa League this season? We’re taking it one match at a time. Today, we’re qualified, but we stay focused. On Sunday, we have an important league match.”
