Athletic Bilbao has officially announced the signing of Moroccan striker Maroan Sannadi to a five-year contract, running until 2029, following an agreement with Deportivo Alavés and a financial compensation to Barakaldo, the club where he was on loan.
The contract signed by Sannadi includes an option for an additional year. Athletic Bilbao finalized the transfer after reaching an agreement with Alavés and committing to compensate Barakaldo, where the striker impressed this season by scoring 11 goals, topping the Primera Federación (Spain’s third division) goal-scoring chart. His performances caught the attention of several European clubs.
Although born in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the capital of the Basque Country, Maroan Sannadi, who turned 24 yesterday, remains deeply connected to his Moroccan roots. In an interview with Spanish newspaper El Correo, he expressed his dream of one day representing the Moroccan national team.
