On the eve of their debut in the 2025 Arab Cup, the Moroccan A’ national team is set to face Comoros this Tuesday, December 2, for their first group stage match. Present at a press conference, coach Tarik Sektioui discussed the state of his team’s preparation, acknowledging that the start has not been ideal, but emphasizing a group determined to begin the tournament in the best possible way.
The Moroccan coach admitted that the competition promises to be tough, while insisting on the positive mindset that drives his squad. He nonetheless highlighted the difficulties faced in recent days, particularly related to the late arrivals of several key players. Some players only joined the camp very recently, which has limited collective training time. This situation is in stark contrast to that of Comoros, who have been in training for nearly two weeks.
Despite these challenges, Sektioui assures that his group is mentally prepared to rise to the occasion. The coach speaks of a “positive pressure,” fueled by the desire to represent Morocco with dignity and to meet the expectations of the public. For him, this demand serves as a motivator for the players, who are determined to secure a first victory to ideally kick off their journey in the competition.
However, Morocco will have to deal with significant absences. Achraf Bencharki will miss the first two matches due to injury, while Mehri is also unavailable. These two setbacks will force Sektioui to adjust his game plan for the tournament’s initial fixtures. Despite these constraints, the coach remains confident: the objective is clear, to start the Arab Cup with three points and lay the foundations for a solid campaign.
