    Amine Harit in Trouble…

BERGAMO, ITALY - MAY 09: Marten De Roon of Atalanta BC competes for the ball with Amine Harit of Olympique de Marseille during the UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Semi-Final second leg match between Atalanta BC and Olympique de Marseille at Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia on May 09, 2024 in Bergamo, Italy. The Moroccan international from Olympique de Marseille has not set foot on the field since his unjust expulsion against Paris Saint-Germain, where he faced Achraf Hakimi.

Since that match, Roberto De Zerbi has changed his approach, particularly by switching tactics. He opted for a more defensively solid midfield, sacrificing a creative playmaker (number 10) to strengthen the defensive side, and also made player changes to fit this new system.

Amine Harit could be one of the big losers of this change. However, after suffering a calf injury that has kept him off the field since that infamous match, the player only resumed training with the group this week but was not selected for the last game.

The Moroccan midfielder, who still has his sights set on participating in the next Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, needs to find a solution with OM to get more playing time or consider leaving next summer.

One thing is certain: Roberto De Zerbi has not sidelined the player, as he assured us during a press conference. It’s now up to Amine to seize the opportunity he will be given, without a doubt. But will that be enough to earn him a spot for the CAN? Nothing is less certain. Given the increased competition within the Lions of the Atlas, he will have to earn his place. Several new players, like Talbi or Mohamed Ali Cho, could overtake him. In short, Amine Harit faces a major challenge: regaining playing time at OM this season’s end and next season, or somewhere else starting at the end of June… and through that, hoping to rejoin the Lions for the upcoming CAN campaign, or even more if circumstances allow.

That’s all we wish for him…
