AFCON 2025: Fan Zones, a popular celebration across Morocco

As the kickoff of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations approaches, Morocco is transforming its cities into true celebration venues with a network of eight official fan zones deployed by CAF and the local organizing committee. Located in host cities such as Rabat (including the large OLM Souissi), Casablanca (two spaces, one of which is at Anfa Park supported by inwi), Agadir, Fès, Marrakech, Tangier, and one in Témara near Rabat, these free zones aim to extend the football festivities beyond the stadiums. Open from noon to 1 AM, they offer giant screens to watch the matches, family entertainment, concerts, dining options, and cultural activities, requiring only a FAN ID via the Yalla app for access.

This ambitious initiative aims to make the CAN accessible to everyone, even those without tickets for the matches. For instance, the OLM Souissi fan zone in Rabat, one of the largest with its historical facilities, is set to come alive tonight with an exceptional concert featuring French Montana, Davido, Douaa Lahyaoui, Says’z, and Lartiste starting at 6 PM. Elsewhere, private partnerships such as that of inwi in Casablanca or solidarity spaces by Orange in local associations complement the offerings, while ONDA has even set up mini-fan zones in airports so that travelers in transit don’t miss any of the matches.

Today, a new milestone was reached with the inauguration in Rabat of the AMCI Fan Zone, dedicated to international students and graduates of Moroccan cooperation, in the presence of high-profile figures including Nasser Bourita, Fouzi Lekjaa, and Patrice Motsepe. Spanning 5,000 square meters, this space symbolizes African brotherhood and is expected to welcome up to 50,000 visitors during the competition. With these initiatives, Morocco is not just organizing a sporting CAN: it is creating an inclusive, festive, and memorable continental celebration for all supporters, whether local or from abroad. Join us starting tomorrow to experience this unique atmosphere!
