Achraf Hakimi’s Injury: Luis Enrique Refuses to Blame Luis Díaz

The scene chilled the Parc des Princes. Victim of a violent tackle from Luis Díaz, Achraf Hakimi had to leave the pitch in tears during Paris Saint-Germain’s defeat against Bayern Munich (1-2) on Tuesday night in the Champions League. The image of the Moroccan, supported by medical staff, stirred strong emotions both on the field and in the press conference.

Asked about the incident that led to the expulsion of the Colombian winger after a VAR intervention, Luis Enrique preferred to calm the situation, refusing to point fingers at the Bayern player:

“What happened to Achraf is part of football. It’s a contact sport. It’s unfortunate, of course. It’s complicated for the players. These things happen. I remember Musiala’s injury. It’s just bad luck. We will know more tomorrow with the doctor,” explained the Spanish coach.

For his part, Vincent Kompany, coach of Bayern Munich, also reacted by defending his player while sending a message of support to Hakimi:

“He didn’t do it on purpose. It’s the tension of the match. At that speed, neither I nor the referee saw the foul clearly. I defend my team’s interests… I just hope Hakimi’s injury is not too serious.”
