This is a significant blow for Paris Saint-Germain and the Moroccan national team. According to journalist Fabrice Hawkins (RMC Sport), Achraf Hakimi will be sidelined for several weeks following an injury sustained on Tuesday night during the Champions League clash against Bayern Munich (loss 2-1).
The Moroccan right-back severely twisted his left ankle after a strong tackle from Luis Díaz. He left the pitch in tears, supported by the medical staff, and exited the Parc des Princes on crutches, raising fears of a serious injury. However, examinations ruled out a fracture: he is suffering from a significant sprain affecting the internal ligaments.
According to RMC Sport, his unavailability is estimated to be between six and eight weeks, effectively ending his 2025 season in the Parisian jersey. This recovery period casts major doubt on his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025, which Morocco will host from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
The opening match will see the Atlas Lions face the Comoros in Casablanca. This is a competition that Hakimi will not want to miss under any circumstances, as he is one of the key pillars of the team led by Hoalid Regragui. But unless there is an express recovery, the PSG right-back may be forced to withdraw from the tournament’s early matches, or even longer.
This scenario would represent a huge setback for Morocco, just weeks before the kickoff of their home AFCON.
