Paris Saint-Germain secured a hard-fought 3-2 win against Olympique Lyonnais this Sunday at the Groupama Stadium, in the 23rd round of Ligue 1. Despite dominating the match, the Parisians let a late lead slip away, which could have cost them dearly.
Moroccan international Achraf Hakimi was one of the key players in this Parisian victory, scoring a brace (53′, 85′). With four goals and five assists in the league this season, the right-back boasts impressive statistics for a defender.
His first goal came in the 53rd minute, following a cutback cross from Bradley Barcola. No one touched the ball, allowing Hakimi to arrive at the far post and unleash an unstoppable strike past Lucas Perri.
In the dying moments of the match (85′), he finished off a superb team move. Sergio Ramos, with a brilliant backheel, played in Kang-in Lee, who quickly found Hakimi. With a clinical side-foot, the Moroccan once again deceived the Lyon goalkeeper and sealed the match.
Between Hakimi’s two goals, Ousmane Dembélé (59′) had scored PSG’s second goal. Despite this comfortable lead, PSG relaxed toward the end of the match, allowing Rayan Cherki (83′) and Corentin Tolisso (90+2′) to give Lyon a glimmer of hope.
In the end, Paris extended their unbeaten streak in Ligue 1 and strengthened their position at the top of the table, while OL missed the opportunity to close in on the top 5.
