Injured in his left ankle at the beginning of November during the fourth matchday of the Champions League between Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, Achraf Hakimi is working tirelessly to return as soon as possible. The Moroccan international has a clear goal: to be available on December 21, 2025, for Morocco’s opening match in the Africa Cup of Nations against Comoros.
A more reassuring health status than expected
Three weeks after his injury, Hakimi is showing encouraging signs. The pain has significantly decreased, and the inflammation is gradually subsiding. The player remains optimistic and believes that his recovery is on the right track.
In an interview with Canal+, he confides:
“I feel better. Every day, there is progress. I am focusing on my work to return quickly.”
Intensive rehabilitation in Spain
Based in Murcia for his rehabilitation, Hakimi is following a rigorous schedule with his personal physiotherapist. His days are filled with several hours of exercises aimed at strengthening his ankle and regaining mobility.
He still wears a protective boot and moves around using an orthopedic scooter, just as he did when he went to collect his African Ballon d’Or in Rabat a few days ago.
His physiotherapist is cautious but confident:
“The injury was impressive, but his reaction and progress are good. He is making good strides.”
Regragui counts on him and believes in his return
In Morocco, Hakimi’s injury has caused a shock. Coach Hoalid Regragui admits he feared a long absence. During a visit from the player to the Mohammed-VI complex, the coach shared his feelings while emphasizing his confidence in Hakimi’s ability to return:
“What matters is that he can be with us for the AFCON. I know how he works. When he comes back, he will be a beast.”
Morocco holds its breath
Hakimi, for his part, does not allow himself any relaxation. Despite current restrictions, the inability to put his foot on the ground, adapted sessions, and limited movements, his goal remains unchanged: to play with Morocco as soon as possible.
“I miss the pitch immensely. I will do everything to return,” assures the Lion of the Atlas.
The Moroccan national team thus remains hopeful: if the player’s progress continues at this pace, Achraf Hakimi’s presence at the start of the AFCON is not impossible.
