Getafe CF officially announced on Monday the signing of Moroccan central defender Abdelkabir Abqar for a three-year contract, lasting until June 30, 2028. The 26-year-old player joins the Madrid-based club on a free transfer, following his notable stint at Deportivo Alavés.
The Moroccan international had spent five seasons with Alavés, a club with which he experienced promotion to La Liga. Strong in duels and possessing good anticipation skills, he played 56 matches over the past two seasons, confirming his status as a regular starter in the top tier of Spanish football.
This transfer represents a great opportunity for Getafe, who are securing the services of an experienced player familiar with the demands of the league. Abqar will bring depth and stability to the central defense of the team managed by José Bordalás.
The club did not fail to welcome its new signing, who will now wear the azulonas colors:
“Welcome to your new home, Abdel!”
