Young Moroccan defender Abdelhamid Aït Boudlal could soon experience Ligue 2. According to Foot Mercato, the 18-year-old has agreed to join Amiens SC on loan. Rennes and Amiens are currently negotiating the final details to complete the deal before the transfer window closes.
Aït Boudlal, a product of the Mohammed VI Academy, joined Rennes last summer with hopes of making his mark in Ligue 1. However, the center-back has yet to make his first-team debut for the Breton club. A temporary move would provide him with valuable playing time and allow him to continue his development.
Lille had also shown interest in the young Moroccan and even submitted an offer to Rennes, as reported by L’Équipe. However, it is Amiens that now appears to be leading the race to secure Aït Boudlal until the end of the season.
In search of defensive reinforcements, the Picardy-based club is eager to finalize the deal quickly and integrate the player into their squad as soon as possible. It remains to be seen if an agreement can be reached in time to make the move official.
