Karim El Ahmadi did not hide his enthusiasm when discussing Abdellah Ouazane. After Ajax’s draw against Excelsior (2-2) on Sunday, the former Moroccan international was particularly impressed by the qualities of the young Moroccan, who is just 17 years old and came on for the last quarter of the match.
On ESPN Nederland, during the show Dit was het Weekend, El Ahmadi painted a very flattering portrait of the young Ajax player. “I haven’t seen a player with so many qualities in a long time,” he said, highlighting his deep runs, physical build, ball control, and ability to accelerate from a standing position. For the former midfielder, Ouazane is simply “a very special talent.”
El Ahmadi believes that the Moroccan has the qualities to quickly become an important player for Ajax. “We just need to wait for him to become a starter and take Ajax by the hand.” He also emphasized Ouazane’s personality on the field, as he regularly demands the ball and constantly seeks to create danger, whether through a goal or an assist. According to him, the young player could even become an “exceptional” element.
This impression is also shared by Henk Spaan. In his column published on Monday in Het Parool, the Dutch columnist rated Ouazane 9/10 for his appearance against Excelsior. Spaan explained that the few minutes played by the Moroccan almost made him forget the two points dropped by Ajax, so impressive was his appearance.
Still rarely used with the first team, Ouazane continues to make an impression in the Netherlands. At just 17 years old, his early appearances with Ajax are already generating numerous positive comments, especially as he has just received his first call-up with Morocco.
