Abdellah Ouazane continues to make an impression with Ajax Amsterdam. Starting on the bench Saturday night against Fortuna Sittard, the 17-year-old Moroccan came on in the 57th minute for Oliver Edvardsen and contributed to his team’s convincing victory (5-1) during the 6th round of the Eredivisie.
Initially expected to start the match, Ouazane was ultimately left on the bench by Míchel Sánchez. However, his entry in the second half quickly brought more dynamism to Ajax’s left flank. Available between the lines, proactive with the ball at his feet, and capable of challenging his direct opponent, the Moroccan helped add more variety to the attacking play of the Amsterdammers.
Even though he did not score or provide an assist, his performance did not go unnoticed. Several Ajax supporters highlighted the impact of his entry, with some even suggesting that he should regain a starting position in upcoming matches. An action where Ouazane came close to delivering an assist also sparked numerous positive reactions.
At just 17 years old, Ouazane is thus confirming his gradual integration into the first team. The Moroccan had already scored a goal in the Eredivisie this season against Heerenveen and provided two assists against Sion in the Conference League. This upward trajectory could lead Míchel Sánchez to grant him more playing time in the coming weeks.
