Achraf Hakimi is officially among the 30 candidates for the Ballon d’Or 2026, with the list unveiled this Tuesday by France Football. Already a finalist in the previous edition, the right-back for Paris Saint-Germain confirms his place among the references of world football. The final ranking will be revealed on October 26 in London.
This new nomination inevitably recalls his remarkable journey in the Ballon d’Or 2025. The Moroccan international finished in sixth place with 484 points, achieving the best ranking in history for a Moroccan player. It was a significant recognition, even though his exceptional season had raised hopes of seeing him finish even higher.
Since then, Hakimi has further enriched his trophy cabinet and strengthened his candidacy. He scored 4 goals and provided 17 assists in 49 matches during the 2025-2026 season, actively contributing to the second consecutive Champions League title won by PSG. He also added a new French championship title, the UEFA Super Cup, and the Africa Cup of Nations with the Atlas Lions to his accolades.
Facing particularly strong competition, Achraf Hakimi can legitimately hope to improve on his sixth place from 2025 and aim as high as possible. In Morocco, there is now hope to see the defender get closer to the podium and continue to write the history of national football.
