There is immense concern surrounding Ayoub El Kaabi. The Moroccan international suffered a terrible injury this Saturday during Olympiakos’ match against Volos, as part of the third round of the Greek championship. Evacuated on a stretcher, the forward was immediately transported to the hospital for examinations.
The incident occurred just before halftime. Launched into space, El Kaabi managed to touch the ball before Volos goalkeeper Marios Siampanis came out. Siampanis then fell heavily onto the Moroccan’s leg, which twisted violently upon impact. The Olympiakos striker immediately collapsed, showing intense pain and pointing to his leg for the medical staff.

The violence of the action caused a strong emotional reaction on the field. The Volos players quickly called for medical personnel, while Siampanis, deeply shaken by the consequences of his challenge, broke down in tears. After several minutes of treatment, El Kaabi left the field to applause from the crowd and was replaced by Armando Gonzalez. Olympiakos was awarded a penalty for the incident, converted by Jota Silva, who dedicated his goal to the Moroccan number 9.
Given the impressive twist of his leg, the fear of a fracture is now very strong. However, this hypothesis has not yet been medically confirmed. The examinations conducted at the hospital in Volos will need to determine the exact nature and severity of the injury, as well as the duration of Ayoub El Kaabi’s unavailability.
