Bilal El Khannouss was named man of the match by the Bundesliga after his remarkable performance in VfB Stuttgart’s victory over FC Cologne (4-1). As a starter, the Moroccan international opened the scoring and significantly contributed to his team’s offensive play.
The Lion of the Atlas broke the deadlock in the 39th minute following a superb individual effort. Served about thirty meters from goal, he eliminated several opponents, executed a nutmeg on Luka Lochoshvili, and found the back of the net with a slightly deflected shot. As early as the 9th minute, he had already created a major opportunity with a cross that was headed onto the crossbar by Josha Vagnoman.
El Khannouss also played an important role in the build-up to the second goal. His control followed by a through pass allowed Maximilian Mittelstädt to set up Grischa Prömel. Substituted in the 78th minute, the Moroccan won nine duels, the best total among Stuttgart players.
This complete performance earned him the official man of the match distinction awarded by the Bundesliga. Sebastian Hoeneß also praised his player: “He clearly deserves special praise. It was a tremendous performance by Billy.”
