Mohamed Ihattaren scored his first goal of the season on Friday during Fortuna Sittard’s victory over FC Groningen (2-3) in the fourth round of the Eredivisie. The Moroccan international started the match and opened the scoring in the 12th minute.
Following a quick counter-attack, Ihattaren struck with his left foot from a back pass by Lequincio Zeefuik to give his team the lead. Groningen equalized eight minutes later, before Zeefuik restored Fortuna’s advantage in the 28th minute.
Ihattaren left the pitch in the 68th minute, replaced by Nick de Groot. Anthony Descotte then scored the visitors’ third goal in the 72nd minute, before Groningen reduced the deficit late in the match. With this victory, Fortuna Sittard brings its total to seven points after four matches.
