The Moroccan U20 team suffered its first defeat at the Mediterranean Games in Taranto 2026. The Atlas Cubs lost to Tunisia U21 (1-0) on Monday during the second day of Group A.
Played at the Giovanni-Paolo-II Stadium in Francavilla Fontana, the match turned in the second half. Mohamed Rayan Rhimi scored the only goal of the match in the 49th minute. Despite their attempts to equalize, Ludovic Batelli’s players were unable to breach the Tunisian defense.
After their draw against Turkey (2-2) in the opener, the Moroccans remain stuck at one point. Tunisia, which had drawn with North Macedonia (0-0), temporarily raises its total to four points and takes the lead in the group.
Morocco will play its final group stage match on Wednesday, August 26, at 9:30 AM against North Macedonia. A victory will be essential to maintain their chances of qualifying for the semifinals, reserved for the top two teams from each group.
