Abdellah Ouazane continues to make strides with Ajax Amsterdam. Starting this Sunday against Heerenveen during the second round of the Eredivisie, the young Moroccan international, 17 years old, scored his first goal in the Dutch league during the 2-2 draw conceded by the Amstellodamers at the Johan Cruyff ArenA.
Positioned on the left side of the attack in place of Mika Godts, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain, Ouazane was making his second consecutive start in the Eredivisie, having already begun the match won 2-0 against PEC Zwolle in the first round. Coach Míchel Sánchez once again placed his trust in him in the starting eleven.
The Moroccan stood out in the 33rd minute. After evading two opponents, Ouazane unleashed a superb strike from over 20 meters that found the top corner, allowing Ajax to take a two-goal lead. This marks his first goal with the Ajax first team in the Eredivisie.
However, Ajax was unable to maintain this advantage. Heerenveen came back into the match to ultimately secure a 2-2 draw, handing Míchel’s men their first dropped points of the season. Ouazane left the pitch at the end of the match after a performance highlighted by this first goal.
At just 17 years old, the Lion of the Atlas is confirming the increasingly important role he occupies in the professional squad. After gaining playing time in European competition and starting the first two rounds of the Eredivisie, Ouazane has now added his first league goal to his promising start to the season.
