The Moroccan international Souffian El Karouani has made history with FC Utrecht after being selected by supporters for the club’s all-time ideal eleven, as part of an initiative honoring players who have marked different eras of the team.
The Moroccan left-back has earned the trust of Utrecht supporters, who have named him one of the best players in the club’s history at his position, thanks to his remarkable performances since joining in 2023 from NEC Nijmegen.
El Karouani quickly established himself as one of the key players for FC Utrecht due to his contributions on the left flank, his ability to contribute both defensively and offensively, as well as his assists and repeated forward runs, which have made him one of the most prominent players on the team recently.
This recognition comes as El Karouani has just begun a new chapter in his career. After a successful season in the Netherlands, the Moroccan full-back left Utrecht to join Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Arabia. Courted by several European clubs, he ultimately chose to continue his career in the Saudi league.
Despite a relatively short stint at Utrecht compared to some of the club’s historical figures, El Karouani’s impact and the consistency of his performances have allowed him to carve out a place among the players who have left a strong impression on Dutch supporters.
