Just arrived at Bayern Munich, Ismael Saibari is already receiving significant recognition within the Bavarian locker room. Jonathan Tah notably praised the many qualities of the Moroccan international, whom he had the opportunity to face when Saibari was playing for PSV Eindhoven.
“We faced him when he was at PSV. He was also one of the players I really enjoyed watching during the World Cup,” the German defender said. Tah particularly highlighted the versatility and athletic qualities of the Atlas Lion: “He is an extremely complete offensive player, capable of playing in several positions and always creating surprises. He is very difficult to face because he is physically powerful while also being excellent technically.”
Saibari indeed made an impression during the 2026 World Cup, scoring three goals before missing the quarter-final against France due to a thigh muscle injury. This discomfort forced him to follow an individual rehabilitation program upon his arrival in Munich.
However, the Moroccan took an important step on Monday, August 10, by participating in his first collective training session with Bayern at Säbener Straße. He joined Vincent Kompany’s group alongside Jamal Musiala, Alphonso Davies, Serge Gnabry, and Lennart Karl, who also returned after following adapted programs.
Recruited from PSV and contracted with Bayern until June 2031, Saibari comes from six seasons in the Netherlands, where he scored 42 goals in 142 matches across all competitions. His ability to play in midfield as well as in more offensive positions should provide several solutions for Vincent Kompany. “I really look forward to playing with him,” Jonathan Tah concluded, eager to see the Moroccan in the same jersey.
