The board of directors of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation met on Thursday, July 16, 2026, under the presidency of Fouzi Lekjaa. A significant portion of the discussions focused on preparations for the 2030 World Cup, which Morocco will host jointly with Spain and Portugal.
The president of the FRMF called for a general mobilization and collective effort to ensure the success of this global event. He emphasized the need to anticipate the various stages of preparation and to ensure ongoing coordination among the stakeholders involved.
Fouzi Lekjaa also specified that the organization of the tournament will be overseen by the Morocco 2030 Foundation, in partnership with the FRMF. He urged national leagues to modernize their working methods and to actively participate in the projects planned before 2030 and beyond.
The Moroccan leader finally reflected on the performance of the Atlas Lions at the 2026 World Cup, which concluded in the quarter-finals. He defended the players’ commitment and expressed his surprise at certain criticisms questioning their dedication to the national team.
