The development of Moroccan football continues to receive praise across the continent. Sabri Lamouchi believes that the Kingdom now has a significant advantage over other African nations thanks to investments made in infrastructure and training.
“Morocco has taken a lead over other African nations in terms of investment and training. Today, many players choose to represent Morocco because they believe in the project and the strategy that has been put in place,” said the former coach of Ivory Coast.
For the Franco-Tunisian coach, the choices made by dual-nationality players are not solely based on immediate sporting aspects. They also reflect their confidence in the project developed by the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, which notably relies on the Mohammed VI Football Complex, youth training, and the development of various national teams.
The results achieved by the Atlas Lions illustrate this progress. After reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Morocco also advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup, which was held for the first time in an expanded format with 48 teams. The Moroccans have thus confirmed their place among the nations capable of establishing themselves sustainably at the highest international level.
This consistency, combined with the quality of infrastructure and the talent scouting work conducted among talents both in Morocco and abroad, enhances the attractiveness of the national team. In the eyes of Sabri Lamouchi, the Kingdom has thus become a reference and an example to follow for the development of African football.
