Long underutilized this season, Issa Diop is gradually regaining playing time with Fulham as the Premier League season comes to a close. The Moroccan central defender has played 12 league matches out of a possible 37, totaling 727 minutes, including 7 starts. Across all competitions, he has made 17 appearances this season.

Against Bournemouth, despite Fulham’s home defeat by a score of 0-1, Issa Diop had already sent a positive signal. Coming on at halftime, the Atlas Lion played a solid 45 minutes in a challenging match for the Cottagers, especially after Joachim Andersen’s red card. This serious performance allowed him to regain credit with his coach.

Continuing this momentum, Issa Diop then returned to the starting lineup against Wolverhampton. This was an important opportunity for the Moroccan defender, who was looking to regain his rhythm after a season marked by limited playing time. Positioned in the center of defense, he was able to string together valuable minutes as the final matchday of the league approaches.

This increase in playing time comes at a crucial moment for Issa Diop, as the Moroccan national team is set to begin a decisive training camp to prepare for the World Cup. In the coming days, the staff of the Atlas Lions will evaluate the players still in contention before finalizing their choices for the final roster. For the Fulham defender, every minute played in the Premier League could weigh in the decision-making process, especially in a defensive sector where competition remains high.
