Issa Diop heading to Morocco, FRMF close to finalizing a new deal

The Royal Moroccan Football Federation is reportedly on the verge of finalizing a new reinforcement ahead of upcoming fixtures. According to information from Foot Mercato, the FRMF has succeeded in convincing Issa Diop to represent Morocco. The Fulham central defender could even be included in the next list of the Atlas Lions, provided that his change of sporting nationality is validated in time.

At 29 years old, the former Toulouse and West Ham player would bring an experienced profile to the Moroccan defense. This season, Issa Diop has played 10 Premier League matches out of a possible 29, a limited amount of playing time, although he has started the last two matches. This recent momentum could, however, work in his favor as he approaches a potential new international chapter.

This case once again illustrates the FRMF’s determination to remain proactive in seeking dual-nationality players who can provide immediate added value to the squad. With his experience at the highest level and his background in the English league, Issa Diop would represent an interesting additional option to strengthen competition in central defense.

If the administrative side is resolved in time, his presence at the next Moroccan gathering would then take on a very concrete dimension. For Morocco, this would be a strong signal in its policy of strengthening the squad, with the potential arrival of a seasoned player still capable of contributing at the highest level.
