Amrabat returns to Betis without the ball

Absent for several weeks, Sofyan Amrabat made his return this Tuesday to the Ciudad Deportiva Luis del Sol to reconnect with the environment of Real Betis. After undergoing surgery on January 27 for an injury to his right ankle, the Moroccan midfielder has spent approximately six weeks in rehabilitation in the Netherlands before gradually returning to the Andalusian pitches.

For now, the former Fiorentina player is primarily engaged in specific training with the club’s rehabilitation staff. Betis is being cautious: Amrabat is not yet touching the ball and remains apart from the group, taking the time to validate each step of his protocol. The player has succinctly summarized his current program: “For the moment, I am just running.”

Upon his arrival in Seville, Amrabat displayed a positive mindset and a clear desire to return to competition: he feels “better” and hopes to “play again soon to help the team.” Images released by the club show a player who is accelerating his workload, running with a certain ease, and is expected to intensify his field work in the coming days. If everything goes as planned, a gradual reintegration into the group could occur next week.

In an interview with Betis media, the Atlas Lion also shared a more personal message about this challenging period. He explained that he has “worked a lot” recently, sometimes twice a day, and emphasized what this injury has taught him: patience. Amrabat expressed his frustration at not being able to help on the field while maintaining hope to “see the reward” very soon.

The player also addressed the discussions surrounding his physical condition and commitment, stating that he had tried to accelerate his return several times, especially for major matches. According to him, pushing himself only complicated the situation, ultimately making surgery unavoidable. Now, the goal is clear: to complete this final stretch of rehabilitation, rejoin the group, and then become a key player in the game for the end of the season.
