Standard de Liège has officially announced its tenth summer signing with the arrival of Mohammed El Hankouri. The Moroccan winger has signed a two-year contract, with an option for an additional year.
Born in Rotterdam, the 28-year-old El Hankouri is an experienced player who came through the ranks of the prestigious Feyenoord club in the Netherlands. After making his professional debut in 2016, he was later loaned to Willem II. In 2018, El Hankouri made his debut with the Moroccan U23 national team, scoring the only goal for the “Atlas Lions” in a 1-1 draw against Tunisia.
Starting in 2019, he played for FC Groningen before joining FC Magdeburg in the 2. Bundesliga for three seasons. Thanks to his experience and consistent performance, the Moroccan international caught the eye of Marc Wilmots, Standard de Liège’s sporting director. He is now making his way to the Belgian league, ready to take on new challenges in the “Rouches'” colors.
