Achraf Bencharki secured a valuable victory for Al Ahly (0-1) away from home, allowing his team to temporarily reclaim the top spot in the standings while waiting for the remaining matches of the 16th round of the Nile League. The Moroccan international scored the winning goal in the final moments.
Al Ahly dominated their opponent, Haras El-Hedood, controlling the pace throughout the match played in Alexandria. However, the home team put up a solid defensive resistance. The introduction of Achraf Bencharki in the 45th minute, replacing Egyptian player Hussein El Shahat, marked a turning point for the offensive dynamics of the Cairo club.
Highly visible in the second half, especially in the final minutes, Bencharki made several offensive initiatives, both with direct strikes and by creating chances for his teammates. His persistence finally paid off in stoppage time. After combining with Omar Kamal on the right side, he entered the box and, following a precise cross from his teammate, executed a superb sequence: a controlled chest touch to gain an advantage over the defenders, followed by an unstoppable shot to the right of the goalkeeper. A gesture of great class that secured the three points for Al Ahly.
With this victory, the Cairo club temporarily takes the first place with 36 points. This position remains provisional as they await the outcomes of other matches in the 16th round, particularly that of Pyramids FC, who also have the same points total and will travel to Alexandria on Friday to face Al Ittihad.
