Reda Belahyane, who joined Lazio this winter from Hellas Verona, has been officially presented by his new club. Ambitious and determined, the 19-year-old midfielder spoke about his decision to join Lazio, his role within the team, and most importantly, his choice to represent Morocco on the international stage.
Courted by several clubs, Belahyane chose Lazio due to the project offered and the presence of players he already knew. He also reunited with Marco Baroni, his former coach at Verona, who quickly placed his trust in him. The Moroccan international feels ready to take on this new challenge in Serie A and the Europa League.
A Heartfelt Decision for Morocco
When asked about his decision to represent Morocco rather than France, Belahyane was clear:
“There are excellent Moroccan players playing at big clubs. You can’t say there’s more competition in France. Morocco is my parents’ country, some of my brothers grew up there. I’ve always felt Moroccan.”
This strong choice reflects his attachment to the Atlas Lions and his desire to establish himself within the national team.
At just 19 years old, Belahyane shows great self-confidence and has high ambitions. He wants to continue developing and establish himself quickly at Lazio. Inspired by N’Golo Kanté, whom he cites as a role model, he hopes to leave his mark in Serie A and help his team reach the top, both domestically and on the European stage.
