2026 World Cup: Ancelotti reacts to the draw and cautions against Morocco in Group C

Following the draw for the 2026 World Cup, Brazil now knows its opponents in Group C: Morocco, Scotland, and Haiti. This group is already being labeled as tricky by many, a sentiment fully shared by Carlo Ancelotti, coach of the Seleção.

Asked after the draw, the Italian coach emphasized the difficulty of this group, particularly highlighting the progress of Moroccan football:

“It’s a very difficult group. Morocco is very strong, just like Scotland. Morocco performed very well in the last World Cup, and Scotland also qualified for the World Cup by winning important matches in Europe. It’s a very solid team, very physically strong. We must be cautious with this group, but I trust in the quality of our national team.”

Morocco, a semi-finalist in 2022, is considered one of the dark horses of the tournament, while Scotland arrives with renewed momentum after a successful European campaign. Haiti, for its part, will aim to create an upset in this competitive group.

Despite Brazil’s stature, this draw mainly confirms that Morocco continues to be seen as a major opponent on the world stage. Semi-finalists in 2022 and solid throughout the qualifiers, the Atlas Lions enter Group C with a clear ambition: to continue their rise and challenge the hierarchy. The challenge will be significant, but Morocco now possesses the experience and the tools to compete with any nation, including the legendary Seleção.
